Happy New Year's
From my Family, those of Council and Staff, I wish all residents of Crapaud and surrounding area a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Surely 2021 can only get better, as we leave 2020 behind. Council and Committees have ambitious projects ahead, if we can just get COVID-19 behind us as well.
I would like to Thank Staff, Council and Committee members for the hard work they contribute to ensure Crapaud continues to prosper and grow. I thank all our volunteers who help us complete projects. A very special Thank You to those at the Crapaud Food Share. It was a busy year for them. And Thank You to all the businesses and people who donated Time, Money, Turkeys and other Staples to fill the Food Hampers. 2020 has been a challenging year for all of us.
It has been an honour to be Crapaud’s Mayor, and I look forward to continuing into 2021.
Neila Auld,
BScPharm

A Special Message From Your Mayor:

Crapaud & South Shore Municipalities helping residents with Food Security
Crapaud, PEI, April 14, 2020 - The South Shore area, not unlike the rest of Canada, has many residents that are now out of work and facing uncertain financial situations as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Many people are worried about their ability to pay their bills and provide necessary supplies for themselves and their families. As a result, the South Shore Food Share, which services not only Crapaud but also Bonshaw, Breadalbane, Victoria, Borden-Carlton and all unincorporated communities in the South Shore region is anticipating a much higher demand for its services.  With that need and increase in demand, our communities have stepped up to help.  The South Shore Food Share, the Rural Municipality of Crapaud, and our surrounding partners (Councils of Victoria, Bonshaw, Breadalbane and Borden) have provided funds to purchase grocery gift cards to help alleviate some of the worry that is being faced by many of our residents in these uncertain times. By assuring food security for those who need it most in the coming weeks and months, we can help with some of the financial burden that many of our neighbours are dealing with, ensuring food access and security for the most vulnerable is addressed

The South Shore Food Share and the Rural Municipality of Crapaud encourage those who are facing instances of food insecurity to reach out in confidence to the South Shore Food Share, or a member of your Council directly. We will do what we can to ensure all who need it receive access to food for themselves and their family. Many thanks go out to our residents, community organizations, and businesses who have also contributed thus far.

The Crapaud Council continues to work for residents.  The Public Office is closed to the public but rest assured that your phone and email messages are received daily and addressed promptly. Council meetings are now being held via video conferencing and the public can participate by requesting access from the Council Office. The next Council meeting is Tuesday April 21st at 7:00 pm.

Please adhere to the Public Health Officer’s notice to “Stay home, Wash Hands frequently, and Practice Social-Distancing”. If you must go out for essentials, practice safe-distancing. Please check on your neighbours, especially the most vulnerable, to see if you can obtain groceries or other essentials for them. Keep each other safe.

We will all get through this together.
